This is a plain first version of our terms. We are preparing a fuller set and will post the update on this page when it is ready.

1. About Bowo

Bowo is a gifting app. It helps you keep track of what the people you buy for actually want, so gifts land and nobody unwraps the same thing twice. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms.

2. Who can use Bowo

You must be 18 or older to use Bowo. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up, and accounts that do not meet this requirement are closed.

3. Your account

You sign in with Apple or with a one time code sent to your email address. There is no password. Keep access to that email secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You are responsible for activity under your account.

4. What you put into Bowo

You choose what to add: interests, gift ideas, sizes, a birthday, photos of things you already own, and events you want people to know about. Friends whose requests you accept can see the parts of your profile that help them buy for you. You can edit or remove any of it at any time, and you can delete your account and its data from Settings.

5. Messages we send

Bowo sends messages about your account, your friends, and events you are part of. That includes push notifications, email, and, where you have given us permission, text and rich messages to your phone number.

You opt in to text and rich messages by giving us your phone number and agreeing at the point we ask for it. We message a number only after the person who owns that number has agreed to hear from us. We do not message a number simply because somebody else gave it to us.

You can stop these messages at any time. Reply STOP to any message, or turn them off in Settings. We send one confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and then nothing further. Message and data rates may apply.

6. Gift recommendations and shopping links

Bowo suggests gifts based on what people tell us they like and already own. Suggestions are suggestions. We do not guarantee that an item is in stock, correctly priced, or right for the person receiving it. Prices and availability come from third parties and change often, so check the retailer’s own page before you buy.

Bowo takes part in the Amazon Associates program. Some links to Amazon in the app may earn us a commission if you buy. This costs you nothing extra and does not change what we recommend.

7. Privacy

We collect what the app needs in order to work, and we do not sell your personal information. Photos you take in the capture flow have faces blurred on your device before the image leaves it. The privacy notice inside the app explains what we collect and why, and it forms part of these terms.

8. Fair use

Do not use Bowo to harass anyone, to send messages people have not asked for, to copy or scrape our catalogue, to break the law, or to interfere with the service. We may suspend or close an account that does.

9. Other companies

Bowo runs on services from other companies, including hosting, messaging, and analytics providers, and it links out to retailers. We are not responsible for their content or their terms.

10. Availability and changes

Bowo is early software and is offered as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available or free of faults. We may change or withdraw features, and we may update these terms. When we make a material change we will post it here and update the date at the top of this page.

11. Liability

So far as the law allows, Bowo is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for a gift that disappoints. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
